Dare to go bare

FRIENDS and family of Camden’s Stuart Kenny might get a shock next month when he swaps his thick, curly locks for a new nude look.

The 23-year-old university student is taking part in The World’s Greatest Shave and hopes to raise $2000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

He will also donate his long hair to the Variety Children’s Foundation for wig making.

Two years ago a family friend, who is now in remission, was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

“I decided to donate my hair to the Variety Children’s Foundation because I was really shocked by the price of wigs for children,’’ Mr Kenny said.

“The ones which looked natural were more than $5000.’’

“I’m having a big party where I will put my hair in little ponytails and get people to  donate money if they want to cut it,” he said.

Online fishing magazine Castemag is also sponsoring Mr Kenny, who writes for it.

“Part of the proceeds from the sale of their latest edition will be donated to the World’s Greatest Shave,’’ Mr Kenny said.

The fundraising will be held from March 10-13.

“This will be my last opportunity to do an event like this because I am studying to become a police officer and they have to always be clean-shaven,” Mr Kenny said.
