THE Rotary Club of Narellan is sending a message to the community – women are welcome to join its ranks.
The club is holding its first ever International Women’s Day Breakfast on Tuesday, March 8, to raise money for A Brand New Day and A Day for Girls.
The event also gives the mixed club a chance to show the community it welcomes female as well as male members.
“Our club has five female members,” the club’s community services director Rachel Elliott said.
“We want to encourage many more women to join our club and take part in the amazing work we do for the community.”
The breakfast will also be a chance to relax and enjoy activities.
“The breakfast will be sit-down and the audience will be treated to a speech by guest speaker Catherine Perich,” Mrs Elliott said.
“We have a male and female fashion parade, as well as an auction and raffle.
“All the proceeds from these will be going to A Brand New Day and A Day for Girls.”
Mrs Elliott said the club was delighted to support the work of the charities.
“A Day for Girls (international charity) enables girls to attend school during their cycles by providing them with sanitary packs,” she said.
“We also wanted to help out A Brand New Day because it provides services towards people suffering from domestic violence.”
The inaugural breakfast at Harrington Grove Country Club is already a success with tickets sold out.
